These two had crawled out of the muck of the river to enjoy the early morning sun. While trying to get a better photo and creeping closer, I realized that turtles are not the most fascinating to photograph, or at least, not these two. I know at least the one far away is a snapper so I minded my manners in not getting overly close. But there is a peace, despite the ugliness, of turtles, that I can relate to. Perhaps they know what they look like, but they don’t mind, and they take their time in ruling their world. And if they are careful and avoid humans, they can live to be a ripe old age.
